I just spoke to Tom Plum, Vice Chair of the X3J11 committee, about the problem of old drafts being sent out by CBEMA. He reminded me that this is the draft we voted to publish and that during the discussion of the vote it was pointed out that ANSI does not automatically update Information Bulletins. [I am not trying to defend this policy, just note the fact.] If you want to automatically receive the most up-to-date drafts as they are available you can become a member or an observer of X3J11. To do so, write to: Dr. Thomas Plum X3J11 Vice Chair Plum Hall 1 Spruce Ave. Cardiff, NJ 08232 USA Your request must be in writing, and should clearly state whether you want to be a member or an observer. (Members can vote). The current cost is $150 for a member and $75 for an observer. A member can have an alternate who can vote in the member's place and who also will receive the committee mailings. Additional alternates are the same price as observers. Note that a company can designate only one Full Member. I should also note that although drafts are sent to observers currently, this is not required by ANSI policy and so could be changed (I've not heard of any plans to do so). Send no money to Plum Hall, you will be billed. Tom also asked me to mention that he writes a column for the C Journal after each committee meeting discussing changes to the draft and differences between the draft and K & R. I would like to note that the money you pay as a member or observer does not go to X3J11. The expenses of duplicating and mailing the various documents, as well as the costs of hosting committeee meetings, are paid by the member organizations of X3J11, on a volunteer basis.
