I read the postings in the music files and I wonder: is there no one out there who listens to Joe Pass with The Trio? Or thrills to Oscar's way with a fast F blues? Does no one but me listen to Sassy Sarah wail "east of the Sun and West of the Moon?" Can it be so? Say it ain't so!

I was wondering whether there were any jazz fans out there in netland. Maybe what we need to do is take a page from teh deadheads' book and swamp the net with jazz messages so we can get our own group. Meanwhile, what about Sarah Vaughan!!!! Did anybody get to see the divine one in her recent (current) tour???? I had to miss her recent engagement at the Blue Note in NYC. Has anyone seen her???? Yours in jazz Marcel Simon

[MARCEL SIMON] OR (here's a unique idea!) you can "swamp the net" with jazz messages SO THAT people will begin talking about jazz in net.music! Wouldn't that be great... Bcc: You are not alone. Worst thing about the whole deal is that even our local "Jazz" radio stations are 90% pop-fusion-rock rubbish. You can hear Spyro Gyra any time of the day or night but early Miles is seldom heard (not of commercial interest I guess) What about "Jeru" Mulligan, Dizzy, "West Coast" Jazz, Art and Art? I don't listen to anything recorded after 1957. Kelly McArthur "..they blew and they fought and they blew some more. However, as far as 1957 goes, I won't listen to much recorded before that date. Mostly, I just can't stand the recording quality. I have some Billy Holiday that sounds like it was recorded through a telephone. I realize that things improved between then and the 50's, but I consider Kind of Blue (one of my new favorites) to be technically so-so (I'm referring to the engineering, not the music). I'm not sure when it was recorded, but later Miles sounds so much better. I realize you were probably not intending to be taken literally about 1957, but do you really hate stuff like Miles Davis' Bitches Brew or In a Silent Way? -Josh "It wouldn't matter to a man with an open heart"
