For those of you with a serious commitment to either psychedelia in its original form its its resurrected garage/Brit suit, I would heartily recommend an import EP called "25 O'clock" by the legendary Dukes of the Stratosphere. Really heavy cover, and mymymy, true heaviness inside. Within the short confines of this EP, nearly every psychedelic bit in the acoustic trickbag is floated out and sent up. Not since Todd Rundgren's "Deface the Music" took on Paul McCartney's old band have I heard this well crafted a bit of ripoff. Several of my friends have even decided that this is even better than the Rain Parade. Boy were *they* pissed off..... But alas-this is hardly the birth of a fine new band. Rather, this is none other than those non-touring studio wizard rascals Andy Partridge and *****************************XTC****************************************** with their hands in the mushroom bin. Great stuff-a little intelligence in the service of a spoof that works well enough to outdo its serious contenders. Far Out. Near In. -- ________________________________________________________________________________ Once I was young:once I was smart:now I'm living on the edge of my nerves:-Japan Gregory Alan Taylor:162 Clark Hall:Cornell University:Ithaca,NY 14850:USA USENET: {cmcl2,decvax,ihnp4}!cornell!lasspvax!gtaylor ARPANET: gtaylor@lasspvax.arpa BITNET: gtaylor@crnlthry.bitnet ________________________________________________________________________________
