[net.games.video] Analog Joystick query

Nice to see the WICO stick review, and for only $30.
But this must be a strictly digital (4 swithces, 8 positions) stick,
right?
I'd like to hear what is a good Analog (two-potentiometer, 360 degree)
stick. I've seen & read about the TG job, which has two features
I'd want: self-centering springs and trim adjusters. However, nobody
needs its $60 price tag.
BYTE has ads for pieces to build your own, or even complete surplus(?)
units at steal prices. Anyone try these?
Right now my Radio Shaft sticks I bought along with the CoCo work fine,
but lack the above features, don't sit well on a table,
and won't last forever.

It seems that an analog joystick would do no good, as there
would be no hardware in the Atari, or whatever system that
uses digital inputs, to deal with analog 360 degree inputs.
Unless the game originally comes with analog joysticks, it is
unlikely to be able to use analog joysticks. Even if the
hardware existed within the unit to deal with analog joysticks,
all of the firmware in the market would only use the digital
inputs so as not to lose the large market of Atari (or whatever
brand) owners that have not bought aftermarket joysticks.
