Anybody know what the "pac" in pac-man means? Is it an acronym, like "pursuit-and-chomp" or something?

As you know, the PacMan game was invented over in Japan. The Japanese expression that describes the action of opening and closing your mouth when eating is "paku paku". (It's derived from the sound of the action) So, that word simply got truncated to "PacMan" when the game came out. Casey Cox linus!vaxine!cec
