Atari has a new vector-style coin-op game out called The Adventures of Major Havoc. I find the game lots of fun, but one thing in particular seemed just right to describe on the net. At the start of the game, it describes the "justification" for what's going on by scrolling text on the screen. It says that you are fighting an evil race ... called the VAXXX. I thought this was just a funny coincidence, 'til they stated (this is paraphrased) "...you must destroy the VAXXX by chasing them to their evil home planet of Maynard"! - Andrew uucp: decvax!cwruecmp!glassner (just a glint in a csnet: glassner.case@rand-relay phosphor's eye...)

A friend and I have recently gotten hooked on Major Havoc, a video game at our local colored-phospor palace. We would like to learn all we can about the game, but repeated quarters have yielded very little information. We have learned about "warping" and have been given the first few magic numbers (where did they come from?). But we're having LOTS of trouble with the mazes, specifically: o The maps are virtually useless; they don't identify where the electrical barriers are. o Is there a way through the electrical barriers? Do they come and go? o Is there one-and-only-one way through most of these mazes? Repeated exploring in the early mazes has just cost us men... most of the possibilites seem blocked by electrical widgets. o How do you get over the spark-detonating red pads? There seem to be a lot of goodies hidden in the game; we'd love to know them! Any help on any aspect of Major Havoc would be appreciated.
