Another article mentioned a local arcade that survived the crash. There will always at least be a few around and there will always be someone playing the old game in the corner of the restaurant or tavern. Arcades of one form or another have always been around as far back as I can remember even if it was just a few pins and 10 cents a game shooting galleries. The late seventies.. early eighties boom was great, what arcade addict could not like the inflow of new and changing games. Things are crashing, but the die hards still attend. The local arcade lunchtime crowd still contains its share of three piece suits and the kids overflow all summer. There is just something about taking the controls and vainly struggling to beat the always winning machine. Many do not understand. Learning how to turn left, right, thrusting and firing with 4 fingers is just beyond some peoples frustration level. Even when the games are set for free play there are people who still will not play.... but I will. If there was never any new games the addicts would still keep playing the old. Rick Schieve I still can't walk away from an Asteriods game.
