#N:parsec:37900001:000:858 parsec!kolstad Aug 7 14:43:00 1983 I have been mailing connect maps to all requesters for several months now. The maps contain a list of connections and have the caveat that they do NOT know about one-way -vs- two-way connections. I maintain the map daily from new site announcements and communications with several other maintainers of maps. U.Illinois built a program which (except for the one-way connection problem) generates routes with the least number of hops (often as good as smb's router -- ut not often enough!). The connections list is sent out each thursday evening to the people to whom I connect (e.g., uiucdcs, ctvax, rice, allegra, ihnp4). Those people then forward the map to further sites (a scheme not too different from netnews routing). I'm not so sure I think we should be charging money for this sort of thing. What shall we do now?
