We have the pathalias program. We also have just brought up sendmail with the standard uucpproto.cf. I'd like to have the pathalias communicate with sendmail so we can keep the database on 4.2. So I don't reinvent the wheel, has anyone done this? Can you give me an example .cf file and the glue needed or at least a cookbook to set the stuff in motion? I made a general purpose "nameserver" interface to sendmail to do this function -- I'll post the details to net.sources. The basic idea is to enable the RHS of a rewrite rule to call an arbitrary C program. The address/argument is passed to the nameserver which prints the translation to a stdout pipe to sendmail.
