I am trying to address through cs-net. This is the address I have but it does not work ihnp4!ucbvax!Moorthy%RPI@CSNet-Relay.ARPA What is wrong with this ? -- Kurt Gluck SPL 1c273a Bell Communications Research Inc 6 Corporate Place Piscataway NJ, 08854 ihnp4!pyuxhh!kurt (201)-561-7100 x2023

The problem with such addresses is that you never know when some intermediate site will decide to use the ARPA part of the address. In your example (ihnp4!ucbvax!n%h@s), if ihnp4 gives @-signs "higher priority" than !s, they will try to send it to {{ucbvax!n%h} at s}, rather than {ucbvax ! {n%h@s}}. I don't know what sendmail does with such addresses (I imagine it depends on the configuration file). -- In-Real-Life: Chris Torek, Univ of MD Comp Sci (301) 454-7690 UUCP: {seismo,allegra,brl-bmd}!umcp-cs!chris CSNet: chris@umcp-cs ARPA: chris@maryland

You might try ihnp4!n%h@s@ucbvax. This just might work. Another possibility is ihnp4!n%n%s@Ucbvax (since addresses with two @ signs are "illegal"). =Spencer
