Does anyone have a list of valid TELENET locations and their site IDs? Specifically, we are looking for access to the SIMTEL 20 machine at MIT. I have a feeling that this is guarded information, but not knowing the status of TELENET's philosophy on data access I'm asking anyway. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. -- Andrew ...{rlgvax | decvax | ucbvax!allegra}!rochester!ritcv!ccivax!abh "From the ever cycling epicenter of Rochester...."

Sorry, SIMTEL20 is NOT at MIT (unless there has been a lot of geographic shuffling going on in secret!); it is at White Sands Missle Range in sunny New Mexico. It is a MILNET host, reachable through the ARPANET. (You may have used an MIT gateway into the ARPANET, which would explain why you thought the locations were congruent.) ARPA/MILNET sites connect directly over the high-speed data lines, regardless of physical location, so a New Mexican site is just as "next-door" to MIT as one physically located in the next building.
