I'm looking for sources or pointers to sources for a name server that can be inserted into 4.2 BSD sendmail. It will allow people to use human names to address mail (eg "joe smith"@UCSD). I suppose that I could honk up the aliases code but I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if somebody has already got one. Thanks in Advance! ihnp4 \ Brian Kantor, UC San Diego decvax \ akgua >---- sdcsvax ----- brian dcdwest/ ucbvax/ Kantor@Nosc

If you mail to the full-name of someone (mine is "dave cohrs") sendmail will look in the password file for that name and send the mail to the login associated with that address (like "dave cohrs"@wisc-rsch). Of course, if the person you are mailing is called "joe schmo" and his fullname is "donald duck", you're going to have a hard time getting the mail to him. -- (Bug? What bug? That's a feature!)
