Subject: VMS mail I am looking for some information on VAX/VMS mail, specifically how easy is it to trick VMS mail into believing it is a node of a mail network when the VMS system is not DECnetted and the other mail nodes are VAX/UNIX(4.2 BSD), TOPS-10 (as in DECsystem-10), and IBM VM/CMS (ugh)? We currently have our TOPS-10 system pretending to be a UUCP node and through that we are sending mail to our IBM 4341. We now have a number of VAX/VMS sites on campus that would like to participate in our mail/file transfer network, but none of the sites have anyone who know enough about VMS mail to even begin to figure out how to get VMS mail to know about other non-DECnet nodes. I have noticed that there are VMS sites on UUCP. How are they participating??? Note that our VMS sites are looking for the cheapest solution (dial-up file transfer seems fancy to them), so Ethernet TCP/IP isn't really an option in this case. I would really appreciate any information and sharing of experience that anyone can offer. Thanks in advance.
