in a message titled "Re: Neighbor optimized away," fred avolio talks about all the wonderful things done is "Real Networks," implying that uucp is Something Else. well, it is and it ain't. uucp is a real network between a pair of hosts. all else is application, e.g., mail/netnews. in the early days, uucp oriented mailers were unable to provide even rudimentary routing. this has changed, but keep in mind that the mailers do the routing, not uucp. dynamic/adaptive routing for uucp applications would be A Good Thing; i know i'm not alone in thinking about algorithms to support it. peter
