dsc@izimbra.CSS.GOV (David S. Comay) (10/07/86)
a little over a week ago, the mail and news gateway functionality that had existed on a vax 11/780 (previously known as `seismo.CSS.GOV' or just `seismo') was moved to a sun 3/160. a number of problems occurred during this move, some having to do with software, some having to do with hardware, some having to do with the congestion the arpanet has been experiencing of late, some having to do with pretty bad luck and some having to do with some mistakes by yours truly. in any case, off and on for a number of days the sun known as `seismo' was unable to talk to either its uucp neighbors or its fellow internet sites. in addition, some mail was lost last thursday and some perfectly valid uucp mail was returned by seismo!uucp (with the complaint of non-zero exits codes.) at this moment, `seismo' is running fine, although there are still quite a number of things queued up for both the internet and the uucp sites we talk to. if you continue to have problems, please call me at 703-276-7900 or i can be reached by email at `seismo!dsc' or `dsc@seismo.css.gov'. sites on the internet should note that the internet address of `seismo.css.gov' is no longer 10.0.0.25, but rather it is 192.12.141.25. in addition, the vax previously known as `seismo.css.gov' is now known as `beno.css.gov' and its internet address is 192.5.11.5.
