System "ihnp4" completed UNIX(TM) 5.0 conversion over the past weekend. Due to problems encountered during the conversion, some mail has been lost, and sites "laidbak" and "stolaf" failed to receive news for over a week. The problems have been worked out, and the situation has stabilized. News and mail should now be working smoothly for the 64 or so systems receiving netnews at the IH/IW/IX complex. "ihnp4" is available as an alternate gateway in and out of the Bell System, but the current capacity is somewhat limited. Due to UUCP problems, site we04-3b has been forced to terminate news feed to Princeton. We will attempt to fix the problem and then have to restore service.
