I sent mail by a pathalias-generated path, and found out that pathalias was confusing two sites with the same name. They are: #N gandalf #S #O AT&T Information Systems, Freehold (fj) #C chuck schwing #E gandalf!root #T (201)577-4432 #P 1H-118;Juniper Plaza - Route 9;Freehold, NJ 07728 #L #R #W 841022 ihnp4!action # and #N gandalf #S #O Gandalf Data Ltd. #C Dave Carr #E decvax!hcr!gandalf!carr #T (613) 225-0565, ext. 352 #P Ottawa, Ontario, Canada #L #R #W ksh per newsite 6/3/84 # gandalf hcr(POLLED) It would seem that the Ontario one has a better claim to the name. Since the AT&T one is AT&T, the conflict will go away when everybody has domain addressing, but I thought I'd better report it. (This has a vaguely familiar ring (no LOTR pun intended); has this been reported before, maybe, and it was decided to let it be?) I've mailed a copy of this to uucpmap and both #E addresses. (I don't have a clean path to the AT&T gandalf; I'm trying ihnp4.) I'm posting this to net.news.config because I think it should be of interest even if not both sites are news sites (I didn't check that). Mark Brader
