[net.news.config] Hidden systems in large companies

ajs@hpfcla.UUCP (ajs) (05/14/85)

For your interest, this is an observation of the current size of the
network internal to HP (Hewlett-Packard Company). We run an HP-wide
internal mail routing data collection system. At last count (this week)
there are 308 UNIX (mainly HPUX) systems known to be reachable inside
the company, and probably at least 200 more concealed, largely
single-user systems.

Just to get an idea of the real size of the Net, I'd like to see
responses telling many UNIX systems are connected inside other large
companies, like AT&T, DEC, Tek, etc. Thanks.
