[net.news.config] Possibly Lost Mail

spaf@gatech.CSNET (Gene Spafford) (06/06/85)

Due to a complex chain of events, beginning with someone restructuring
our password file, it seems that some mail passing into the "gatech"
machine was filed away into an electronic black hole. Not all of
our mail traffic disappeared, but some of it did.

If you don't get a response to mail you sent and it meets the following
criteria, you should assume it got lost and you should send it again:
1) You sent it to someone at "gatech" or routed it through "gatech";
2) "gatech" called a neighboring site and picked it up rather than
   the site calling "gatech" and dropping it off;
3) it came here sometime between about Tuesday evening and Thursday morning.

Sorry about the inconvenience (if any).
