cbosgd went down at about 3 AM this Saturday morning (June 14) with a dead power supply on an RM05. Since the machine is supported by AT&T Communications, who is on strike, repairs have been slow. As of Monday evening, the replacement power supply had not been located. Hopefully they will get it fixed on Tuesday. We expect to replace cbosgd with a 3B2/400 called cbatt sometime in the next few weeks. This will make things more robust in the event of power problems from thunderstorms, and will take much of the load off what used to be a useful VAX 750. Configuration details will be announced on this newsgroup when things are set up. Mark

Durring Florida summers, thunerstorms are several times a day, not several days a month. When we get breif power surges, or drops, the 3B2/400s we have seem to survive when all the other machines crash. -- Mikel Manitius @ AT&T-IS Altamonte Springs, FL ...{seismo!akgua|ihnp4|cbosgd}!codas!mikel.ATT.UUCP
