scubed!hutton sent us a sendsys control message, which we responded to,
but the path it went down bounced. This probably indicates someone's
mailer is broken. It could be ours but I doubt it, and I'm fairly certain
it isn't seismo, since Rick is usually pretty well on top of things there.
Does nike talk to scubed? If not, where IS scubed and who munged the From
line? Did anyone else have a response to this sendsys control message bounce?

[probably at nike --> scubed] .... We have seen something similar here. We got scubed!hutton's sendsys with a nine-hop reply path -- which is strange, since S-Cubed is only a few miles from here, and we share the same newsfeed. Anyway, our reply got as far as parcvax (Xerox PARC?) and failed trying to deliver it to sri-spam (SRI). The former is not listed in the mod.map database; the latter is listed and says that it is on the Internet, so I suspect that parcvax was refusing to relay UUCP mail onto the Internet. -- Greg -- -- Greg Noel, NCR Rancho Bernardo Greg@ncr-sd.UUCP or Greg@nosc.ARPA

The response from 'rabtrs' bounced (due to problems with udenva's sendmail related to uuxmail/pathalias, udenva!uucp gets the failed mail messages for any mail that goes through udenva before it failed; the bounce itself is *NOT* udenva's problem, though). I would put the appropriate headers in this, but I deleted the bounced message thinking it was a problem with rabtrs's mailer, even though the error was nearly identical to that Greg posted. One reason that I thought it was a problem at rabtrs is that udenva also responded, through hao, *AND IT HASN'T BOUNCED YET*. udenva is rabtrs's only news feed (well, it's more complicated than that, but you get the idea). Since udenva's reply would have been several hours sooner than rabtrs's but later than hao's by as much as a day, something very strange is going on. Does hao run pathalias on such mail ? udenva does, and I believe rabtrs does also. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |"Input!"|"Number 5 is Alive!!"|"Beautiful software"|"Not disassemble!!" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Will Edgington|Computing and Information Resources, University of Denver (303) 871-2081|BusAd 469, 2020 S.
