In "The ICON Programming Language" by Ralph and Madge Griswold, a new book much in the style of Kernighan and Ritchie (that's a compliment!), the authors mention Version 5 of the language, written in C and running under UNIX V7. I am most interested in obtaining a copy of this implementation. Is U of Arizona on the net? Do they have a distribution policy? I would also enjoy hearing comments on the language and its implementations. ICON seems to have solved many of the problems with SNOBOL IV-- it has "standard" control structures, and modern goal-directed primitives. Interestingly, the language (and its presentation in the book) seems to have absorbed a C/UNIX-like flavor, much the way the original book on SNOBOL IV reeked of IBM and JCL!
