I just realized that the guy behind The Dream Academy (for the uninitiated, the D.A. is a group) was also a prime force behind the now-defunct group "The Act" who released an album (the title "Too Late at 20" comes to mind, but I can't confirm it 'cause I'm not at home right now) on Hannibal records about 2-3 years ago (not having the records in front of me is also the reason I'm being so vague about the "guy"'s name). At any rate, if you hurry you can probably still pick up a copy of the Act's album at your friendly neighborhood used record store, probably in the cheapo bins...they never made much of a splash (though the Rolling Stone Record Guide (!) actually gave this group a very positive review). Be the first on your block ... On an unrelated note...a little while ago I posted a silly little trinket about label hopping. Several others followed with some pretty nifty lists of artist/label associations. But how about this: what L.P. has been reissued the greatest number of times *by different labels* (excluding the TRIP/SPRINGBOARD/... school of schlock-rock repackaging) ? I think it must be Phil Spectors Christmas album, which has been issued by 5 (FIVE, count 'em FIVE) different labels: Phillies Records (the original) Apple Records Warner/P.S. Columbia/Pavillion Passport More amazingly, all five releases have had nearly identical covers (with the exception of label/id # and mono/stereo info.)! David ("Dr. DAP") Pearlman P.S. Any record collectors/packrats out there?
