[net.lang] Forth

Forth was developed at Kitt Peak National Observatory by C. Moore, and
has been around longer than microprocessors have been. It was used to
control telescope positioning and data acquisition equipment. I don't
remember what the original processor was, but it might have been an 11.

Forth does not use threaded code; it uses indirect threaded code.
It may sound like hair splitting, but there is a (big) difference between
the two.

Please don't assume from this that I think Forth good for much... I don't.
I like to think of it as an HP calculator with a big stack.
And yes, I've used it. And implemented it on several machines.
