[net.lang] Forth info

There has been (as usual) a great deal of misinformation floating around
the net about Forth.

Forth was developed a bit over 10 years ago by C. H. Moore of the National
Radio Astronomy Observatry and extended by E. R. Rather, also of NRAO.
See 'Astronomy and Astrophysics Suppliment', 15, 1974, pp 497-511.

It was first implemented on machines like the Pdp-11, Sds-920, Nova,
Hp 2100, etc. Micros barely existed at the time.

One of the first major applications of Forth was for the 36 foot NRAO
telescope at Kitt Peak, Arizona.

How do I know all of this? I just took 5 minutes to look it up.
This is not meant to imply that I particularly like Forth. I don't;
I just find it irritating that there are so many 'experts' out there that
don't have the slightest knowledge about what they speak of, and don't
take the time to check.
