[net.lang] A new language called micro-ln

sambo@ukma.UUCP (Father of micro-ln) (11/01/85)

I have designed a language called micro-ln as part of my thesis. This
language makes available all the facilities of the IEEE standard for
binary floating-point arithmetic, including precision and rounding modes,
and exception handling. It borrows features from the C language and
Modula-2. I have available a reference manual, which is 28 pages long
when processed with troff. I would appreciate finding out what opinions
you might have about this language. If you are interested in taking a
look at the manual, let me know. I don't know if it would be appropriate
to post the reference manual on the net. If you think I should, let me
know. Finally, I am writing a compiler for the language. The target
machine for the compiler will be the IBM PC, since it has a way of adding
a floating-point processor that conforms quite closely to the IEEE stan-
dard. I don't think I can finish the compiler before finishing the the-
sis, but if there is a lot of genuine interest in the language, this
will provide me greater motivation to get the compiler done.
