This newsgroup seems to be dead (was it ever alive?!?). I am new to coin collecting and would like to see some discussion about coins to help me in getting started. Possible topics could be: I have a coin for sale, I need a coin, Dealers in your area, Coin show announcements etc... LETS SEE SOME DISCUSSION OUT THERE

I agree. There are many topics for discussion. One topic that irritates me is the Olympic Commerative Coins. I know the athletes need money, but it seem like a ripoff to coin collectors. I think this is a misuse of commerative coins. What do all of you out there in netland think???? Pat Iurilli Bell Communications Research, Piscataway, NJ {harpo,allegra,ihnp4}!pyuxqq!pat

I too agree that these coins are a ripoff. They are too highly priced. The only thing that makes me still want to buy one is the fact that the price of the coins is going to go up GREATLY in the following years so they may be a worthwhile investment... Tom Morgan ariel!djm

Remember the primary reason that the Olympic coins are on sale! It is to subsidize the athletes; they are naturally overpriced. It would be some time before you could turn a profit on them. GEORGE
