If it's the company I am thinking: Telstar is a joint venture by Continental Telephone and Fairchild which will provide "off the shelf" worldwide networking. You buy the earthstation and they'll provide the network. The one catch is that are are providing the network exclusively for Tandem computers. That is, only Tandem sells the interface to their earthstation. Sounds to me as if Tandem is trying to sell more computers. Although I read this in the Times over 6 months ago, so Telstar might have changed their minds since then about dealing exclusively with Tandem. Check into this, but if my memory serves me right, the name of the company was Telstar. After all, it is a rather catchy name. steve messina (deimos!steve)
