[net.invest] Telstar

If it's the company I am thinking: Telstar is a joint venture by
Continental Telephone and Fairchild which will provide "off the
shelf" worldwide networking. You buy the earthstation
and they'll provide the network. The one catch is that are
are providing the network exclusively for Tandem computers.
That is, only Tandem sells the interface to their earthstation.
Sounds to me as if Tandem is trying to sell more computers.
Although I read this in the Times over 6 months ago, so Telstar
might have changed their minds since then about dealing
exclusively with Tandem.
Check into this, but if my memory serves me right, the name
of the company was Telstar. After all, it is a rather catchy
name.
