[net.invest] Broker vs. No Broker for IRAs

rg (03/08/83)

I know you all have probably gone through this on the net before,
but I need some info. I have been looking into an IRA account with
mutual funds. If I go through a broker they charge $30 setup fee
and a max $30 per year maint. fee (figures from Merryl Lynch). If
I go directly through the mutual fund they charge only $6 to $7.50
per year.

Now my question is, is there any difference in the services I get
by having a broker or going through the mutual fund directly.
The difference is about 1% on $2000.
