[net.invest] TI

Their 1 quarter loss was $100 million! This is entirely from home computers!
Part of this is due to the fact that by the time the 99/2 (no color, crummy
keyboard version of 99/4) was ready for sale at $99, the 99/4 was already $99.
But the major loss is in selling 99/4 so low. I don't know if they led the
home computer prices down or if Commodore forced them down, but I believe
Commodore is still making money. TI will certainly survive and profit, but
this loss is big.

As far as the rest of the market goes, I'm staying out for now - it's too
frothy. Options are my favorite game and with a market like this you usually
get killed either way (unless you're rich and smarter than me). Still, plenty
of our local high tech companies look good. Just heard this morning that
Televideo dropped $10 in the last week on no news. They are certainly doing
well and it sounds appealing at $27.
