[net.invest] Looking for a Good Book on Stocks

joepwro@ihopa.UUCP (Joe Wroblewski) (02/01/84)

I am looking for a good, fairly easy to understand, book on stocks. Topics
of interest are:

	1. What are the different types of stocks?

	2. Which types pay dividends?

	3. What does owning stock in a company actually mean (do I own
a certain percentage of the company)?

	4. Etc.

Please send mail.

			Thanks so much,
		        Joe P. Wro

Actually, this question would be a good one to post responses rather than
mailing. I'm interested, and I suspect many others are as well.

Well, as I told Joe, the classic book is Engel's "How to Buy Stocks."

An interesting and very readable book on the technical aspects
of playing the stock market is:

The Profit Magic of Stock Transaction Timing, by J. M. Hurst,
published by Reward Books (a division of Prentice Hall), and
was priced some years ago at $3.95 for the paperback edition.
