I am interested in using some stocks I purchased last year as an individual IRA. Is there a form I mustr submit to the IRS to have these stocks qualify for the IRA investment deduction. Can someone point me to a good source of info concerning what limits there are on having an individually controlled IRA using stocks? Thanks Kim Wallen Psychology Dept. You can not transfer stocks that were obtained outside an IRA to an IRA. I wanted to do that for some stocks I obtained from a stock plan, but was told that the stocks must be sold first, the money transfered to the IRA the the stocks could be bought again. I asked around to a few IRAs and was told the same thing.
