[net.invest] Problems with Benificial National Bank

Last Summer I took out a 6 month Certificate of Deposit with Beneficial
National Bank of Wilmington Deleware.
This CD became due on December 25, 1984.
As of Today ( January 7, 1985 ) I have still not recieved my check for
the account even though I was told last Wednesday that It had been sent by
express mail.
As a matter of fact I sent letters requesting the account not be rolled over
5 days before the account was due.
I'm not worried about the money (It's insured by the FDIC) but this sure
shows sloppy service by BNB.
BNB is at fault because the check should have been cut on December 26.

This bank seems to have other questionable practices.
I was invited to open a Visa account, and there was
to be no "Annual Fee."
A phone call confirmed that this was true, and that
there would be no interest charged if the bill
was paid before the next billing date.
It turns out however, that there is a monthly
"Activity Fee" of $ 1.50! This works out to $ 18,-
per year, which is about average.
When I called to complain, they said that they were
truthful, it was not an annual fee, and the advantage
was that if I did not use the account, there was no charge!
