[net.sport.hockey] Bye,Bye St.Lawrence, Hello Providence

pal (03/21/83)

Wisconsin annihilated St.Lawrence 7-1 today, including two short-handed
goals, to sweep the two-game series 13-3. The badgers now play Providence
in Grand Forks on thursday night.
Correction to yesterday's scores
Minnesota beat New Hampshire 7-2 for a 16-8 total-goals win.

Aside:
Is there anybody OUT there (apologies to Pink Floyd)?
Apart from the occasional piece by Matt Noah, the only contributions
in this group seem to come from me. I know there are Badger fans listening
in, as I get lots of mail asking for results.
Some questions for you all:
1. Given the selection constraints (WCHA champs, CCHA champs, ECAC champs,
four each from east and west(CCHA+WCHA), who would YOU have chosen for the
final eight?
2. Since the eight NCAA quarter-finalists never seem to be the best eight
in the country, how would you arrange the selection procedure to differ
from the current one?
3. For badgers only - Would you play Behrend both Thursday and Saturday
in GRand Forks, or play Kleisinger once (when?). Remember, Terry is
fifth in the country in goals-against.
4. How did "Sieve" Weicker of St.Lawrence, who had to be pulled in the
third period today (after letting in 11 goals, several of which he should
have stopped), become an All-American? (Hint: does the name Lowell Weicker
ring a bell?)
