I, for one, would like to see increased activity in this newsgroup. Unfortunately, most of the discussions I have seen so far involve leagues which receive very little press coverage here. There are several people at our site (University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta) who have been following the NHL very closely this winter, and would probably contribute if there were more items concerning pro-hockey. I find Matt Noah's prediction of the Smythe Division champion interesting. I, personally, rate Winnipeg behind Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. If Edmonton can overcome their greatest weakness (lack of defence), then they should be able to make it to the finals without too much difficulty. If not, I think Vancouver will be the team that plays (I predict Chicago) in the semi-finals. (I like Vancouver's very disciplined style of hockey). I agree with Matt's predictions for the other conference, but I would be interested in hearing what people's thoughts are for the preliminary matchups which begin April 5.
