ND is still unbeaten in WCHA play with an 8-0-0 record. Apparently, Wisconsin took it to Minnesota last weekend and swept the Gophers. Minnesota is now 5-2-1 and Wisconsin is 4-4. I didn't think ND was going to be tough this year but they have been surprising to this point. ND at Minnesota this weekend. I saw Wisconsin play Illinois-Circle this Tuesday. After a slow start, Wisconsin took advantage of poor play by the Circle defense for a 4-1 first period lead. Entering the third period the score was 5-3 but then the flood-gates opened and the final was 10-4. Circle's 27 man roster includes 21 frosh and there are some good ones in that bunch. This won't be their year. Getting back to Wisconsin, now. After having seen both Minnesota and Wisconsin play at Circle I must say that I am more impressed with Wisconsin. The Badgers really let me down for two periods by playing hotdog hockey. I had never seen so many 1-on-5 rushes. They looked a little shaky in the net, too. I know it is better to evaluate them when they play stiffer competition, though, so I'll just say that time will tell with the Badgers. They are a good, if not potentially excellent, hockey team. Did they really beat Minnesota 9-1 last weekend? Matt Noah
