Well, Minnesota rebounded from their disappointing weekend in Madison to sweep
the previously unbeaten Sioux in Minneapolis. This tightens up the situation
at the top of the table considerably, with 16 games left in the regular season.
The crucial series remaining are as follows:
Jan. 20-21 North Dakota at Minnesota
Jan. 27-28 Minnesota at Wisconsin
Feb. 3- 4 Wisconsin at North Dakota
Feb. 17-18 Minnesota at North Dakota
Minnesota Duluth have two games in hand, and six games against Wisconsin still
to play. They could move into contention if they do well there.
Some interesting points:
There has been only one split in the league so far this season, C.C. vs. Denver.
Denver has the best power-play percentage.
North dakota has the best power-play defense.
Minnesota has the toughest schedule, meeting Wisconsin and North Dakota 6 times
each. Wisconsin and North Dakota meet only 4 times.
In internecine rivalry (Minn.-N.D.-Wis), Minnesota are 4-2, N.D. 2-2, and
Wisconsin 2-4.
Quote of the week:
Gino Gasparini, North Dakota Coach, referring to the CCHA, "Any of us (Wis,
ND,Minn) could put our Junior Varsity programs in there and finish over .500".
