[net.music] Worst rock group name

chris@cornell.UUCP (Christopher F. Harrison) (04/02/85)

I don't think I'll get into worst group names, although group names like
"The Swingle Singers"(Bach mutations and mutilations for the terminally trendy)
and "Queen"(Could never figure out why they call them that!(:-)). What I find
much more entertaining is a group with an imaginative or out of the ordinary
type name.
A few years back I stumbled across a real find, it was an album in the
closeout bin at a dept. store of all places. The name of it was "Tonto's Ex-
panding Headband"(The group and album name). The cover showed an indian head-
band in a circle, but there were different scenes along the length of the band.
Most of the scenes depicted the cybernetic life cycle from the tadpole through
the frog and continuing to man. There was also a related musical number on the
album called "Cybernaut". I've even used this song and another as a basis for
some of my jazz improvisations (if you could call them that).

My own contribution to this would probably be "The Flying
	Burrito Brothers" . . . unfortunately, I can't give any
	information besides the name itself.

Good try, but the Flying Burrito Brothers
	      were a country band.
