[net.sport.hockey] RPI vs. Harvard and CCHA standings

newman@bgsuvax.UUCP (Tim Newman) (01/10/85)

For those college hockey fans out there in net.land, I have decided to
suggest my impression of the number one team in college hockey. Minnesota, with
their 3-2 OT loss and 4-3 win over last-place New Hampshire, showed why they
are not and were not the best team in the land.

Instead, Michigan State should now be the consensus choice for the top spot
in both polls. The Spartans have the best record in college hockey (20-3)
and always seem to have a knack for winning close games. Their coach, Ron
Mason, has enjoyed considerable success everywhere he has been. The team
is quite simply awesome from head to toe. I saw them maul Michigan Tech 7-0
at the Great Lakes Invitational Tournament a few weeks ago. Tech is not that
bad of a team, but the Spartans simply decimated them.

And yes, Lake Superior is a division I school. They play in the same
conference as Michigan State and defending NATIONAL CHAMPION Bowling Green.
As a matter of fact, Lake Superior might even be able to beat Harvard. After
all, the Soo Lakers beat Clarkson, Clarkson beat RPI, and RPI beat Harvard.

Hmmmm . . . you never know !!!!

Just thought you might want to know

And know for the CCHA standings for those who are interested:
Michigan State is in first, followed by Lake Superior, Bowling Green,
Illinois-Chicago, Ohio State, Western Michigan, Ferris State, Michigan, and
Miami of Ohio.
