As someone who was around RPI a lot when Ned Harkness was still a recent legend there, I thought I'd tell you some stories about the man called "The most unscrupulous man I ever met" by the man who has given RPI the most money for athletics of anybody. An important game was being played near the end of the season at the Field House, and somehow during the first period, the lights could not be turned on over the half of the ice including the opposing goaly. It was announced that work was progressing on the wiring, and that the game should proceed. Needless to say RPI scored heavily in the first period. During the interperiod, a lot of fiddling was done with the lights and somehow it was now dark on the other side of the ice, and light where it had once been dark. Again RPI scored heavily. In the third period, all the lights were on, but the damage had been done.
