A week or two ago, I posted an article asking net.sport.hockey readers who they think should win each of the NHL trophies and who should be the first and second all-stars at each position. However, judging by the responses I've received so far, a lot of people don't know which of the three forward positions some of the players have been playing. This makes it difficult to vote for the all-stars, so here's a list of which positions most of the league's top scoring forwards have been playing this year, to the best of my knowledge: CENTRE: Gretzky, Hawerchuk, Dionne, Brent Sutter, Nilsson, Nicholls, Federko, Savard, P.Stastny, Carpenter, Yzerman, Lemieux, Fergus, Francis, Steen(?). LEFT WING: Tonelli, Ogrodnick, Krushelnyski, Propp, Goulet, G.Anderson, MacLellan, Naslund, Young, A.Stastny, Brian Sutter. RIGHT WING: Kurri, Bossy, MacLean, Kerr, Gartner, Taylor, Fox, J.Mullen, Larmer, Duguay. Notes: Although he has been a centre throughout most of his career, Gil Perreault has been used on left wing as well this season, but I'm not sure at which of the two positions he has spent the most time. Glenn Anderson has probably played both wings this season, but I think he's spent most of his time on the left side. If one of your favourite players does not appear on this list, and you're not sure which position he plays, feel free to ask me. -- Jeff Richardson, DCIEM, Toronto (416) 635-2073 {linus,ihnp4,uw-beaver,floyd}!utcsrgv!dciem!jeff {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!dciem!jeff
