[net.sport.hockey] Canada Cup?

Is there going to be a Canada Cup type series, or any
other preseason tournament this year? If so, what are
going to be the dates, etc.? I realize that as a fan
I should already know this, but being a fan in a US
city without an NHL team and trying to keep informed
is like being a Pentacostal in a gulag.

Nope, no Canada Cup. The Canada Cup is (I think) held every 4 years and,
since there was one last year, there won't be one this year.

However, the major international spectacular this season will be the
appearance of Russian squad teams around Christmas. The only game that
I know about for sure is the rematch of Red Army vs. Montreal on New
Year's Eve!

No. However, I remember reading in the paper a while ago
that a couple Russian teams would be coming over around
Christmas to play some NHL teams. The highlight game
is supposed to be a rematch involving Montreal and
Central Red Army (?), December 31 -- 10 years after their
3-3 game, "considered to be the best international game
ever played." (quoted from the paper).
