Have any of you heard anything about NHL hockey on TSN this season? I'm looking for any information you can give me, such as whether there will be any, how many games, will they be concentrating on Canadian teams or going for the best games regardless of location, any mention of playoff plans, etc. I subscribed to TSN last when it first started a year ago, mainly for hockey. They started off with the Canada Cup in September, and I just assumed that a Canadian full-time sports station would definitely have NHL hockey. I was very disappointed when there was no NHL hockey in October, and as of November there seemed to be no plans to start showing it, so I unsubscribed. A month or two later, I learned that there were legal problems preventing anybody other than Hockey Night In Canada from televising the NHL in Canada, and that CTV was fighting it so they could broadcast games on Fridays. TSN was not mentioned as part of that legal battle, but since CTV Friday night hockey became a reality in February, I assume nothing stands in the way of TSN broadcasting NHL games this year, so if they're smart, and if they want me as a subscriber, they will. I'm hopeful because CTV's Friday night package this year doesn't sound as good as last year's, so maybe that means TSN got all the good games. -- Jeff Richardson, DCIEM, Toronto (416) 635-2073 {linus,ihnp4,uw-beaver,floyd}!utcsri!dciem!jeff {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!dciem!jeff

TSN is carrying NHL hockey live this season (min. 28 games, all on Sunday or Monday evenings). I don't know when the first broadcast is. -- "May your Coke always be Classic." mathNEWS--the math student newspaper at the University of Waterloo {allegra|clyde|linus|ihnp4|decvax}!watmath!watdcsu!mathnews UUCP mathnews%watdcsu@waterloo.csnet CSNET mathnews@watdcsu NETNORTH
