And how about that Canada vs. USA game? Why don't we just forget it and send everyone home before another debacle like in 1980? I expected playoff type hockey and saw a performance reminiscent of the Toronto Maple Leafs of last season. Sure, that may be exaggerating it but, with the talent that Team Canada apparently has, couldn't they put out for more than 15 minutes in a game? They should either take it REALLY seriously and make a real TEAM or be content with memories of 1972.

Having gone to Cornell, (the land of great goalies) I still try to follow their games. Next Sunday (during the Superbowl!) Cornell is schedualed to play a team called TEAM CANADA. Can anyone tell me where TEAM CANADA is from and who is on it? Not that it matters, I still expect Cornells record to go up to 12-3-2, but of course I'm a biased fan. Kurt Thaller Digital Equip. TEAM CANADA probably refers to the Canadian Olympic team. I know what you're thinking, the olympics aren't for another two years. That's true but Canada is serious about winning the gold medal in front of the home crowd in 1988, and the people in charge of the olympic hockey program believe that the only way to do it is to start preparing for it four years ahead of time, and form a team that can play together as a unit for three hockey seasons. The team has been formed, and they're getting their game experience by playing various teams and entering tournaments like Moscow's Izvestia tournament. -- Jeff Richardson, DCIEM, Toronto (416) 635-2073 {linus,ihnp4,uw-beaver,floyd}!utcsri!dciem!jeff {allegra,ihnp4,linus,decvax}!utzoo!dciem!jeff

This team ( plus or minus a few players ) will be the team that competes in the 88 Olympics. I wish Cornell well cus the Canadian squad has done quite well in the past against the pro's.

More like, they're getting experience by beating up on the college teams (especially those from the East. Last I checked, only North Dakota, Michigan, and Michigan State had managed wins against them.). You've got to hand it to Dave King, he has put together a winner!

Haven't noticed any Hockey East teams do it, though. BTW, until BC beat Harvard in the opening round of the Beanpot Monday night (a terrific performance - I'd have to call them the favorite from the East to go all the way), the ECAC was 5-0-1 against Hockey East teams.
