Re: Out in cold in Adams race I believe that Hartford is on the verge of making the playoffs but won't for another year or so. They are getting much better but I don't think they can keep up with their Adams Division opponents. I'd like to see Hartford do better....that would make the Adams Div even more interesting than ever before. I think Buffalo will start playing well enough to make the playoffs. As for the B's. Their problem will be Defense. What was once in my opinion the best defensive team in the league has not performed up to expectations this year. Kluzak (before his shoulder seperation) has been shuffled from defense to wing. Thelvin is out. Curran has just broken his leg. Thelin has been in and out too. The trade for Wade Campbell was probably a good one as far as the defense is concerned. Their offense is starting to shape up with the return of Simmer. As for Quebec and Montreal....This may be the battle for 1st place in the Adams Div. Go B's, Bob ARPA: hapgood%dosadi.DEC@DECWRL.ARPA UUCP: {allegra, decvax, ucbvax}!decwrl!rhea!dosadi!hapgood

I am a Buffalo native, and avid Sabres fan, living in Cleveland where they have no real sports teams. Oh, I forgot, they do have a playoff football team, with a .500 record. Anyway, I am sure the Sabres will make the playoffs. The only question is how far they will go. In past years, the best playoff hockey could be seen by watching the Sabres in mid-season, then come playoff time they would peter out. This year, however, the Sabres have been struggling all season, up until last week. Since last weeks All Star game the Sabres have beaten arch rival Boston and the Oilers. The true test will come tonight when they play the Flyers. Hopefully though for fellow Sabres fans, what we are seeing is the usual mid-season peak starting at a better time so that come playoffs the Sabres will be playing playoff hockey. If thats the case, I feel they will go all the way to the finals. When the Sabres do hit their peak and get rolling, they are virtually unstoppable. If you think about it the Islanders won a few of their Stanley Cups merely because they peaked at the right time. They would play mediocre hockey through most of the season and then cruise through the playoffs. GO SABRES!! - Matt Farrell
