I recently purchased a videocassette featuring various
Windham Hill artists (mellow, jazz-ish, all instrumental) for
$19.95. The tape is *phenomenal*! The sound quality (hi-fi vcr) rivals
that of CD's, and instead of the standard music video fare typically
seen on MTV, the pictures were nature scenes that blended
well with the music (mountains, rivers, streams, etc).
It was well worth the $19.95 (not much more than a digitally-mastered
album).
Anyway, two questions for all you video/audio buffs:
(1) does anyone know of any other videocassettes like this? (Say,
Fresh Aire or some other American Gramophone (sp?)
recordings). Where can I get my hands on them?
(2) any idea if the record companies (in general) plan to take
advantage of the sound quality of hi-fi VCR's and start
producing tapes like this for wider distribution? If the
prices were reasonable ($10-$20), they could probably rival CD
sales.
Please e-mail responses directly to me...if there is sufficient volume,
I will post a summary.
Thanks.
