Why is it that there is still so much deadhead stuff on net.music? I thought all that stuff was being filtered out to its own little hole. Can we have the remaining stuff moved to its appropriate pile? I don't ordinarily respond to general things of this nature, but the net.music newsgroup is quite cluttered with this tripe, even after a solution was supposedly found.

Can we have the remaining stuff moved to its appropriate > pile? I wonder if the explanation of the subgroup will ever get through... The point of net.music.gdead is to move a lot of the material related to the Dead but marginally related (or even unrelated) to net.music readership out to a separate group. As of today, at our site, there have been 86 articles posted to net.music.gdead in under a month. News propagates VERY slowly through some parts of the net; moreover, creation messages propagate at the same speed as news. It will take propagation delays plus a few echoes (for people who are replying to old articles without bothering to change the newsgroup...AHEM) to get rid of most of it. Of course, ->>you can still expect to see some Grateful Dead discussion in net.music<<--the intent is that discussions of "general interest" (supply your own definition for that) about their music would still go to net.music. The subgroup was created neither to isolate the DeadHeads (as some have wished) nor to grant them a special privilege (as others have complained)--it was created to try to focus certain discussions and get them out of the way of net.music. -- Dick Dunn {hao, ucbvax, allegra}!nbires!rcd (303)444-5710 x3086 ...Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.
