[net.music] Flo & Eddie, backwards

A few weeks ago we were discussing backwards masking etc.

There actually was a record that plays backwards - you stick the
needle on the inside of the disc, near the label, and it plays
outward to the edge. I guess you have to catch the needle before
  it falls off the record.

The record was an EP by Flo & Eddie (Mark Volman & Howard Kaylan,
formerly of The Turtles) using the name "Checkpoint Charlie" to express
their interest in experimental German bands of the time, i.e. Kraftwerk.

It was packaged to look just like a German import, with most of the
printing in German...

| Oh that reminds me >>something newbatten<< |
| << Neu >> is pronounced "noy" not "noo" ... |

Back to Checkpoint Charlie, instead of getting a bunch of expensive
synthesizers, Flo & Eddie used a Casio VL-Tone, augmented by various
zapping sounds from plastic toys. The song titles:

                        Das Watusi
Show Me the Way to Go Ohm
                        Helmut Row the Boat Ashore
                        Charlie Does Surf
