On the eve of the Superbowl tournament, it`s time to go out on a limb and make my yearly fearless predictions. The pool this year is loaded with at best mediocre teams, some with records of less than .500. The response to the sweet 16 tourney has been poor. The game in G.B., who unfortunately haven`t had a playoff team in a while, isn`t sold out. This may mean a blackout! Other games also are noplace near sell-outs, like the Viking game(This is as of 8 a.m. today). The first round games ought to be breezes, except for the Steeler-Charger battle. I predict all the top 4 seeds will win their opening round games. In round 2, Dallas and Wash. will win, and in the AFC, its the Raiders and the Bengals. In the conference championship, I`ll pick Marcus Allen and the L.A. Raiders, while in the NFC, Mark Mosely will kick a 45 yard field goal to send the Skins to the championships. Finally, the Stupid Bowl (named after a certain commisioner who okayed this farcical tournament), it will be the Raider defense which will give Washington fits, as the Raiders win their 3rd NFL championship 27-14. Remember, you heard it here first. Tom (the Irishman) O`Connor ixlpc!tomoc
