I saw a demo of the Personal Editor for the PC last week. I didn't get to try it myself, so I don't know how easy it is to learn. The demo, by a person who had bought it two days before, was impressive. It blows away any editor I have ever seen or used (my experience is somewhat limited). I was told it was modelled after an IBM editor (SPX or SFX?). For instance: edit 20 files simultaneously use all available memory transparent overflow to disk as needed all keys dynamically reassignable to function sequences switch quickly between multiple files horizontal scrolling (screen is window on larger display) selections are highlighted in reverse video selections on text basis or rectangular basis redefinable margins and word wrap (and rewrap) FAST. everything happened INSTANTLY. alas, no split screen $100 (cheap) Don't take my word for it. But don't but an editor (or a word processor) until you see it. It appears to be (the first?) software developed by IBM at Boca Raton. The demonstrator said the only bug(!) he could find was that there was no way to tell it that the default output mode was "expand tabs" (he had to say it on every save or his language processors would break). The stores are sold out or haven't received it yet here, so I have it on order. John Light tektronix!tekmdp!johnl
